There’s nothing like the week following the flu to make you love life. The Chomicki house is in good health again and almost functional (so back to normal). Now for some 7QT style highlights.
1.
There’s not much I miss about Dallas itself. I miss UD and my college friends, but Dallas, or more accurately, Irving, was THE PITS. I will give Texas one gold star, however, and that’s for the sunsets. The pollution induced colors and flat horizon created some pretty spectacular views. I never noticed sunsets in Fresyes, until yesterday. We had some freak orange-pink-turquoise colors happening in the evening. It was so unusual that we were concerned some strange natural disaster was in the works. My personal scientific opinion was a gamma ray explosion from a supernova (does that even exist?), but the neighbor (who was also out observing the weird orangeness) said it was a partial eclipse only observable in Australia. You can choose who to believe. Anyway, it looked like this:

My seester is visiting from the Poc! And even more exciting, she is looking for a house with her husband so they can move here! And when they do, I can see her ALL THE TIME. *note: Laura, if you’re reading this, don’t worry. I will let you have occasional breaks from my and my children’s presence.
3.
Laura and Dan also came back with goodies from their European adventure, during which they stopped at the UD Rome campus. We all (My bro and sis and I and our respective spouses) had dinner and reminisced about the semesters we spent there; the gelato, the vino, the overnight train rides and the crazy exploits only a 19 year old can survive. Nostalgia city!
4.
I might have been super jealous that they can just pick up and spend two weeks traipsing about Europe, but Laura brought me a lovely scarf from the street market in Florence (nostalgia AGAIN) and my heart overfloweth. I took several pictures of myself modeling it for you all to see, but they all were embarrassing and awkward. So I asked Lulu to model for me.
5.
Notice the dollhouse behind Lulu in the pic above? I saw it at a toy store we visited to purchase one $5 magnifying glass. The dollhouse was on sale, which meant I HAD to HAD to buy it. I called Oskar to let him know it was OK that I was breaking our budget, because this house cost exactly 60% off. Lulu is not a year old yet and might only be interested in chewing on the furniture, but I am having fun playing with it and I KNOW it will be the best toy of her childhood, eventually. It is definitely the best toy of my adulthood.
6.
My college BFF Maureen (who must have been under the influence of a few margaritas) said my blogging INSPIRED (yes, she used that word) her to get back into her blog. If no one ever compliments anything I write ever again, my heart will still be happy because Moe said that. Thanks, friend! I miss you and 822 Danfield Court times like the deserts miss the rain.
7.
Oskie decided to be unpredictable and got me pre-mother’s day flowers. I think maybe they were a “please snap out of your meltdown” gift, but now it’s all a distant memory. Love you, OSKIE!!!
Go see Jen for more Quick Takes!
